The act of drawing engages me more keenly in observing. If I have drawn something, I remember it more coherently. Some of my drawings are preliminary studies for painting. Others are works in themselves. I use several mediums – charcoal, ink, conte crayon, and tempera. I often draw with a brush to get a fluid mark. The practice of Chinese ink painting encourages a dancing brush.
